Auto detailing has various levels of involvement which can allow you to do more basic or very specific jobs. In general, there are three areas of concentration: interior, exterior and engine detailing.

For the most part you’ll only concentrate on the first two with the engine work coming into play when preparing cars for shows. Exterior detailing involves cleaning, polishing and protecting the paint, windows, trim, wheels and tires. Alternatively, the interior detailing focuses on the seats, dash, trim, windows and panels inside the vehicle.

Basic jobs can start around $50 and go upward of $175 or more depending on the size of the vehicle and the types of services required. Detailing is typically a year-round opportunity to earn income and grow your business, though depending on where you are geographically, winters can be slower than other months.
